Ubari Lake

Description

Salt lakes appear in the Ubari Sand Sea of western Libya, where the water table comes to the surface beneath huge dunes. Swimming here is difficult - the saline water and changing temperatures make everything feel strange, and the tiny shrimp just add to the experience. Within a few seconds of emerging, you feel salt crusts forming all over your body, and a freshwater rinse is vital.
