Silencio

Description

The red-painted arcades of the Monasterio de Santa Catalina, in Arequipa. Over 2000m up in the Peruvian Andes, this city was founded in 1540 - its name may derive from an indigenous Quechua phrase meaning 'yes, stay'. The monastery is perhaps less welcoming, but still a fascinating place to spend a little time, as long as you are quiet.
