Chisopani

Description

One of the more surreal sights in post-earthquake Nepal. The village of Chisopani was a popular stop for trekkers going into Helambu, and three hotels stood together with views to Everest. Two are now slumped at a bizarre angle. Their top three storeys are amazingly intact, but the ground floors (and those who were in them) were flattened instantly, crushed like pancakes when the upper levels slumped down. Four storeys are now three - what's known as 'soft storey failure'.
